Gallery: Flinders Island

Flinders Island, the largest of Tasmania's Furneaux Group, is accessible by regular flights from Launceston (45 minutes) and Melbourne (1 hour), making it a unique island escape in Bass Strait. Stretching 75 km in length and 40 km wide, the island combines dramatic granite peaks with pristine white beaches and crystal-clear waters.

Mount Strzelecki, rising 756 metres above sea level, dominates the island's southwestern skyline and offers spectacular panoramic views. The coastline features stunning granite headlands painted with vibrant orange lichen, particularly at the iconic locations of Trousers Point and Sawyers Bay, where these dramatic boulders meet turquoise waters and powdery white sand.

The island is teeming with wildlife, particularly its large population of wombats that can often be seen grazing at dawn and dusk. Marshall Bay and Killiecrankie Bay showcase the island's pristine coastal beauty, while the sheltered coves of Lady Barron and the tidal estuary of North East River demonstrate the island's diverse shoreline.
